The lush green farms of the Tegalalang Rice Terraces are one of the most beautiful places to visit in Bali.  The lush green fields seem to stretch on forever.  Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Tegalalang Rice Terraces make use of traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation systems known as subak.

While you are there be sure to take your picture in front of the Love Bali Sign.   Don’t forget to show your tummy some love by taking in a meal at Terrace Padi Restaurant.  Overlooking the rice terraces this restaurant serves up delicious, traditional Balinese and Indonesian food.

Mount Agung is an active volcano and at 3,031 meters above sea level, it is also the highest point in Bali. The Balinese people believe the mountain is the abode of the gods and it is revered as sacred.   There are two challenging trails to the top of the mountain but the spectacular view is worth the effort.

Mount Agung is home to the Pura Besakih temple, the largest and holiest Hindu temple on the Island. Comprised of 23 different temples, Pura Besakih is located 3600 ft up the side of the mountain.

One of the best times to visit the temple is during the Galungan celebrations.  During the celebration, the temple is beautifully decorated with tall bamboo poles,  coconut leaves, and flowers.  The date of the celebrations is based on the 210-day Balinese calendar, so you would need to plan your trip to travel at the time of the next celebration.
