The Dolomites in Italy is one of my “Happy Places”! A couple of years ago, I was fortunate to spend 6 days on a cycling vacation through the Dolomites in Italy. This ride features major climbs and I occasionally had to remind myself that it was a ride and not a race.
At the end of the day, there was nothing more satisfying than hoisting my bike over my head in celebration of a successful day of cycling. I was lucky to be surrounded by a great group of cycling friends who offered great support.
The Dolomites are without a doubt one of the great cycling areas in the Alps and a must for any avid cyclist.
The Dolomites features 18 peaks which rise to above 9800 feet and feature some of the most beautiful landscapes. Dramatic ascents and descents make for exhilarating cycling and sightseeing alike.
If you are looking for an exciting adventure vacation, the Dolomites is an excellent choice. If cycling isn’t your thing, Dolomites is also great for hiking, trail running, rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing and more!
Luxury resorts, charming villages, and vineyards can be found as you cycling vacation through the Dolomites.
You will have lots of variety in terms of sightseeing, accommodations, and dining. You can take a cable car up 6100 feet from Ortisei to Alpe di Siusi or sooth your aching muscles in the hot springs in Bormio Terme.
Whatever you choose to do on your cycling vacation in the Dolomites, don’t forget your camera!
You are going to want the capture the gorgeous landscape: snowcapped mountains, the cattle grazing in Alpine pastures speckled with mountain flowers, and pristine lakes.
